Hi, I’m Jillayna (said Jill-anna)! I’m a psychotherapist (LPC, LMHC) and writer with a Masters Degree in Clinical Mental Health and degrees in Psychology and Anthropology. I am a lover of all things people and culture! I write and advocate for my passions– which include mental health awareness, human rights in the U.S, and in impoverished countries; child, adolescent, and mothers’ mental wellness (with a focus on Depression, Anxiety and identity development); and the psychological and social implications of the modern western world. I am a Canadian transplant currently living in St. Louis with my partner and our two kiddos. I am down to earth, a feminist and firm believer in letting your freak flag fly.
You can find me on Social Media, but in very limited doses– come find me in real life! Find my personal essays and articles Here and on the blog: Peace, Love and Therapy
I am trained in, and most commonly employ psychotherapy, EMDR, interpersonal, and narrative therapies, as well as expressive arts and mindfulness practice. I also utilize CBT, DBT and play therapy. My experience includes working with children and teenagers with significant Depression and Anxiety and suicide ideation, mothers, the LGBTQIA community, cross-cultural trauma work with refugee children and adolescents, and individuals in various stages of identity development and exploration. I am a board member of Welcome Neighbor STL, and do additional work with refugee populations.
At Bright Tribe Therapy and Wellness, I happily welcome and work to empower all genders, sexualities, religions and identities. I am sex-positive and informed.
Bright Tribe is located in St. Louis, Missouri (Maplewood), and also available remotely via Teletherapy. I am Licensed in Missouri and Florida.
