Numerous studies have shown that you are more likely to accomplish your goals if you COMMIT THEM TO INK!
This goes for mental and emotional wellness goals too. It makes a difference to write down what you hope to work on, and what you hope to achieve.
Why?
This allows for the safe external storage of said plan– it now exists out there in the real world, not just in your brain!
AND
It ENCODES what you hope to work on or manifest– into your brain. This means that the information travels to your hippocampus where it goes through analysis and can enter long term memory.
Want even better chances (76% better, that is) of accomplishing what you hope to? Relay your progress and successes with a friend, therapist or supporter!
I know what you are thinking, though. You’ll never do it. You’ll never make yourself do it, or take the time to sit with yourself and think it out and write it down. While writing your intentions down and how you plan to achieve them wont magically make you change, it is one of those TINY LITTLE THINGS we can do to start the process of making our goals a reality. Just start with one.
It is the START.
It is not the heavy work of therapy, nor does it replace therapy. Writing your intentions won’t “fix your life”. It is merely letting yourself open a door.
So let’s make this quick and easy! Plant, Grow, Blossom.
Grab a brief intention sheet.
Give yourself 15 minutes just for you.
Read it. Stare at it. Let yourself mull it over.
You don’t even have to write anything yet.
It may be to work on your feelings of anxiety, or anger, or to accept changes (hello, self!). Or it may be to start a business, practice healthier eating, or even getting out of bed in the morning.
Wherever you are is the right places to start—whatever singular focus you feel needs attention. So, pay attention to it.
